Perhaps the annals of history records it only as a tiny step but what indeed started
on a small scale has blossomed into a success story within a quarter of a century.
From a quiet beginning which was made way back on 20.09.1984, Agio Paper & Industries
(APIL) has thus travelled a long way. During the journey it has grown from strength
to strength and has been rejuvenated during the past decade. The tireless efforts
of every worker at every level combined with their willingness to strive for the
best has manifested in the company carving out a niche for itself.
The company has changed management twice during its history of over 26 years. The
current management took over the company in 2003. With the onset of the new millennium
a new era dawned upon the company when the current management took over and they
started by overhauling the infrastructure system at the mill which was in a state
of decline. A new team of professionals started in earnest and for a few months
after the takeover, extensive repair & maintenance work was carried out in the unit
and subsequently when the mill re-started manufacturing operations in May, 2003,
it started producing paper up to its potential capacity. Number of initiatives on
cost reduction was taken together with aggressive marketing policies which had a
favorable impact on the working of the Company.
APIL is engaged in manufacturing of Writing & Printing paper. The paper manufactured
by APIL finds application in printing of books, textbooks, brochures, pamphlets,
including manufacturing of notebooks and office and computer stationery. The factory
unit of APIL was originally set up for manufacturing of Writing, Printing and Kraft
Paper with an installed capacity of 13,800 TPA and later increased to 15,500 MT.
The primary raw material used in the manufacturing process is rice straw which is
easily & abundantly available within short distance of the factory premises. The
other raw materials used are gunny, waste paper and majority of which are procured
from nearby states with a limited also being imported from various countries.
The Company has been selling their Products through well-established distributor
network spread all over of India. Presently the market of the company is predominantly
located in the States of West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Delhi,
Bihar, Orissa, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka.
The unit is situated at Village Dhenka, P.O. Darrighat, Masturi at a distance of
approx. 8 kms from Bilaspur Distt., Chhattisgarh at the banks of river Arpa which
also is a reliable source for water supply during the monsoon and winter months.
The unit is approachable by National Highway connecting Bilaspur to Champa. It has
a road frontage and ends at riverbank. The factory & quarters are on level developed
land. The above area is butted and bounded by brick boundary wall as well as barbed
wire fencing.
The building structure consists of plant & non-plant building. The plant building
consists of pulp plant, stock preparation plant, paper machine, finishing house,
warehouse, stores, godowns, and administrative office and personnel office.
Keeping in mind fierce competition in the Indian paper market the management has
envisaged going beyond the existing capacity of 15,500 MT and recently enhanced
the capacity by adding a 100% waste paper based pulping and manufacturing unit.
This will increase the production capacity of APIL by 18,000 MT. The company has
also installed a captive power plant having 4 MW capacity to serve its captive power
requirements. Upon becoming fully functional it will enable the company to attain
self sufficiency in power generation and lower the costs significantly. The mill
is also having a full fledged Effluent Treatment Plant Consisting of Equalization
Tank, Primary Clarifier, Aeration Tank & secondary clarifier. Also in order to stay
pollution free the management has taken a conscious decision to install a Chemical
Recovery Plant for better future and keeping in view the requirement of the industry.
“No matter how carefully you plan your goals they will never be more than pipe dreams
unless you pursue them with gusto.”
Keeping this in mind we have always worked wholeheartedly and been persistent in
our efforts and that has been the hallmark of our consistency. The past is glorious
laden with rich history and we look forward to a bright optimistic future when we
shall rewrite our history once again.
